写真を読み解こうとする気持ちを、いったん脇に置いてみよう。写真の中を視線で「歩く」とき、何が見えてくるだろうか。
原因や動機、理念などを意味する〈cause〉と名づけられた作品群には、遊園地、冬の池、リビングルームという三つの場所を、高い視点から見下ろした風景が写されている。そこに明確な主役は存在しない。気になるものから別のものへと視線を移していくうちに、一枚の写真の中に広がる、まだ気づいていなかった世界の奥行きや、もの同士のゆるやかなつながりが見えてくる。
森本美絵は、一つの被写体を強く際立たせるのではなく、視線が風景の中を自然に巡り始める瞬間を写真に収める。その流れに身を委ねることで、見る人は思い思いの場所に立ち止まり、自分だけの風景を見つけていく。いつしかそのイメージは写真家だけのものではなくなり、見る人もまた、その世界を歩く一人として、自らの道筋で風景と出会うことになる。今回、2007年制作の〈cause〉に呼応するかたちで、この御代田町で新作が撮影された。作品を鑑賞した後にはぜひ、実際の町をゆっくり歩いてみてほしい。御代田の風景に、それまで見過ごしていた表情を見つけるきっかけになるかもしれない。写真の中を歩くことと、町を歩くこと。その二つが重なるとき、イメージの中で始まった視線の旅は、現実の風景の中へと静かに続いていく。
Set aside, for a moment, the urge to interpret a photograph.
Imagine instead what might appear if you simply walked through it with your eyes. The series titled cause—a word that gestures toward origins, motives, and the ideas that set an image in motion—shows three landscapes seen from above: an amusement park, a winter pond, a living room. None asks to be the subject. As your gaze moves from one element to another, new depth opens and gentle connections surface.
Morimoto has long allowed images to slip free from fixed purpose, letting them stand on their own rather than be anchored by theme or hierarchy. Here she captures the moment when the gaze begins to roam, giving each viewer space to pause where they wish and find a landscape that feels personally theirs.
To the photographs made in 2007, a new work created in Miyota joins after nearly twenty years. And after walking through these images, one might walk the town with a slightly widened attention, noticing how the journey begun inside the photograph continues quietly into the world.

1974年岡山県生まれ。東京造形大学デザイン学科卒業。ランドスケープを中心に作品制作に取り組むかたわら、独自の空間感覚を活かし、広告制作、音楽、ファッション、美術、建築、など幅広い分野で写真を発表している。主な個展に2004年「slicer」（la galerie des NAKAMURA）、2007年「MORIMOTOMIE」（graf media gm）、2012年「FAMILY COMPLEX」（gallery TRAX）、2015年「去りながら」（CANON Gallery-S）、2025年「徒花の歌」（MISAKO＆ROSEN）がある。
Born in Okayama, Japan, in 1974, Morimoto graduated from the Department of Design at Tokyo Zokei University. Focusing on landscape photography, she has also applied her distinctive sense of space to projects across advertising, music, fashion, art, and architecture. Selected solo exhibitions include Slicer (2004), MORIMOTOMIE (2007), Family Complex (2012), While Departing (2015), and Song of the Ephemeral Blossom (2025).
