Flowers and Fruits

Since the early 2000s, Lin Zhipeng aka. No.223 has photographed the everyday lives of close friends, sharing moments of unadorned intimacy that came to embody a generation seeking joy and freedom beyond inherited norms. His images trace young people as they move between desire, tenderness, and play, their lives unfolding with the same fleeting radiance that has long drawn him to flowers and fruit.

Here, blossoms and ripe fruit appear not as decoration or props but as companions to the bodies they share the frame with. No single element becomes the protagonist; petals, skin, and fruit resonate together, their colors and textures shaping the image as equal presences. These forms—vibrant yet destined to wilt or decay—mirror the youth, luminous at the edge of time.

He invites viewers to imagine not only the instant captured but the moments before and after, allowing each photograph to open toward personal memory rather than a fixed narrative. Even as the intimacy depicted becomes part of the past, the images continue to live in the viewer’s imagination, extending their stories beyond the frame.
